Appropriate Technologies Research – Intern
Work locally and overseas in a mentoring environment with Sweetwater’s Director and Lead Scientist to research and apply appropriate water management technologies, engaging with client communities for hands-on applications. This job may include international and regional travel for project development.

Interns must commit to 3 – 12 months. Exact duration is flexible depending on availability.
Compensation
Stipend: $500/mo
Interns are encouraged to develop prayer and financial ministry partners for additional support. Sweetwater will facilitate this development through training and advocacy on an as-needed basis.
Housing is provided through local host families at little-to-no cost to the intern.
Responsibilities
- Research ecologically integrated strategies to nurturing water quantity and quality in water-stressed communities, design experiments that test applicability of the strategies within diverse cultural contexts, execute the experiments, and communicate the results through technical notes, peer-reviewed publications, public presentations, and direct interactions with client communities.
- Engage the local community with regular STEM activities, including occasional lectures at universities, high schools, and elementary school.
- Assist with Sweetwater fundraising and outreach activities.
- Activities will be tailored, within reason, to the skills and interests of the applicant. .
Qualifications
- Ability to think outside the box
- Thorough understanding of the scientific method
- Basic understanding of technical writing
- A curious mind who is made joyful by discovery
- Contentment (excitement even!) working with limited resources to solve real-world problems
- Believer in Jesus Christ is preferred and can, in good conscience, sign Sweetwater’s Statement of Faith.
