I’m a guy that sees and experiences God through nature more than anywhere else. Growing up in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, I routinely got to experience the vastness and beauty of the ocean. Very few things in life can make you feel smaller! Being on the beach at sunrise, with the sound of the surf and the morning seagulls, the smell of the salt in the air, the warm wind blowing…how can you NOT experience God in that setting! Beyond the oceans though, whenever I experience the mountains, deserts, lakes, rivers, wide open plains and any kind of animal found in any of those settings, I see God and his AMAZING creation.
I say all of that to start the answer to the question: How does a guy with a background in radiologic science and hospital leadership end up with an organization like Sweetwater? Part of the answer is my love for nature. As human beings, the crowning achievement of God’s creation, we are tasked with tending to and caring for all of nature. Sweetwater’s goal of using local and natural resources within a given community to purify the water at the source fits exactly into that God-given task. Second, Christians have been tasked by God (many times!) to care for the orphan and widow, the poor, the downtrodden, and to love our neighbors as ourselves. What better way to care for people than to work to make sure that everyone has clean and safe water to drink! It’s a Godly calling that I very much want to be a part of, wherever that need may be.
I love God, I love His creation, and I love people. As my educational background might show, I also have a deep love of science of all kinds. I’m a husband, a father of three, and if I may say so, a “favorite Uncle” to a handful of nephews and nieces! I love to spend my free time outdoors, especially in places that I’ve not been to before (any kind of climate is ok with me!). I’m also a lover of animals of all types and have two of the most loveable dogs to ever exist. My ultimate identity is that of a follower of Jesus Christ, and my deepest goal is to be able to share Him with a world that needs to know Him.
