Zengena Small Candle

There is a water jewel in the crown of the Ethiopian highlands called Lake Zengena. In 2010 I had the privilege of studying the ecology of the lake to inform its sustainable management. During one of our expeditions on the lake, when the midday sun made the clear water to shine with brilliant blue, I took a photo and said aloud “One day I’ll show the world how beautiful God made this water in the Ethiopian highlands!” The river in the Sweetwater logo is that photo. This Zengena candle was inspired by that stunning crater lake in the Horn of Africa. When the blue-melt variety of the Zengena candle burns and shots of blue erupt and intermingle with the white wax in unpredictable patterns, it mimics with remarkable accuracy the dynamic shades of blue in the lake. The scents are a homage to Lake Zengena’s forested rim along with a hint of the incense burned in the homes of the lake’s neighbors.
